Retail Buyer what?
We are looking for a competent Retail Buyer to join our trading team and support our Trading Manager in ensuring our Greens stores have a tailored product range, providing value to our customers whilst ensuring commercial KPIs are being met.
The quality and variety of products on our shelves are essential for our success and in creating the Greens brand. Therefore, the ideal candidate must be able to review and analyse date, make swift decisions and ensure they can constantly innovate. As a retail buyer, you will also need to negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive prices.
The goal is to ensure that we are constantly reviewing our product range, executed in the best possible way within stores and we can deliver value to our customers through unique products and facilitate sustainable growth.
Responsibilities
We're looking for exceptional individuals that don't shy away from a challenge and will constantly go above and beyond to constantly drive the leading convenience store chain in the country. Your role will involve to:
- Manage the sales, margin, and ranges for your category
- Constantly review existing product ranges by monitoring product, sales and supplier level sales, wastage and profitability to ensure products in store are tailored for our customers
- Discover and introduce new ranges and work alongside suppliers to launch in stores successfully
- Build positive relationships and act as a key link between internal and external partners
- Support the Trading Manager in creating and delivering our promotional strategy, followed by liaising with the Area Manager to ensure successful execution at store level
- Evaluate supplier options according to prices, pack sizes, case sizes and determine the best choices
- Identify customer preferences and forecast consumer trends
- Develop and execute category plans for specific commodities, building understanding on internal and external supply markets and influencing stakeholders to obtain support for your ideas
- Negotiate terms to agree the best possible pricing and terms for the business as well as delivering value to our consumers
- Monitor stock levels and make plans for buying within a budget
- Create reports on sales, budgets and customer satisfaction and adjust your strategies accordingly
- Forge and maintain trust relationships with suppliers to promote fair dealing
- Attend exhibitions, supplier meetings, seminars etc from time to time to remain up-to-date with the market’s trends as well as meeting and developing relationships with existing and prospective supplier partners

- excellent communication skills, and the confidence to influence colleagues and challenge when necessary
- Degree in business administration or relevant field will be considered a bonus though by no means essential
